setting up your company email in mozilla thunderbird| click here to return to tutorial main page
Thunderbird is an email program with a very user-friendly, clean interface...and best of all, its free. In this tutorial I am going to show you how to set up your company email account in Thunderbird.

The first thing you'll need to do is download the program off of the Mozilla website:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/

Click 'Download Thunderbird'.

This is going to generate a pop-up. Click 'Run'.

When the program has finished downloading, open Thunderbird (you should now have the Thunderbird icon on your desktop).

Since it is your first time opening the program, Thunderbird will ask you to set up your account information. The first thing you need to do is select the type of account you would like to set up. Select 'Email account' and click 'Next'.

Next, the Account Wizard is going to ask for your Identity. This is pretty self explanitory - Input your name as you would like it to appear on your Emails, and your company email address in its respective field.

Now we need to set up the Server Information. Select 'POP' as the type of incoming server. The name of the Incoming Server is 'pop.secureserver.net'. Check the box for 'Use Global Inbox' and set the Outgoing Server is 'smtpout.secureserver.net.

Next, we're going to set our Incoming and Outgoing User Names - input your company email address in both fields.

Set up your Account Name - This is a personal preference.

And you should be all set up, Thunderbird will automatically designate itself as your computers default email program - there is just one more minor setting we will need to change. Click finish.

Select 'Tools>Account Settings...' on the top menu bar of Thunderbird.

That will open this window. Select 'Outgoing Server (SMTP) on the left side of the menu. Now click 'Edit' (as circled in red).

In this menu, we need to change the Port from '25' to '80'. Click OK, and return to Thunderbird.

That should be all - test it out, try sending me an email using this link chris@onenine.net
